Romford's suburbs were built at a time when a long back garden came as standard.
Today, that garden is often the most valuable space you are not using. Our garden rooms in Romford put it to work, with a fully insulated, plastered and properly wired building that gives you an office, gym or studio, designed around your property and what the room is for.

01
Gidea Park began as the Romford Garden Suburb, with an exhibition of individually designed houses in 1911 and more in 1934. Much of it is now a conservation area, and the homes here have a distinctive Arts and Crafts character. A garden room in Gidea Park should look as though it belongs, so natural timber cladding and restrained proportions usually work best. Any planning considerations are identified at design stage.
02
Emerson Park is known for some of the largest homes and gardens in the borough, many on private, tree-lined roads. These plots can take generous, multi-room buildings: a garden office with a separate gym, a games room with a cinema corner, or an entertainment room with a built-in bar and media wall.
One company
Groundwork, frame, electrics, air conditioning and finish. One team, start to handover.
Garden studio · Cedar cladding, sliding doors

Elsewhere, the inter-war and post-war semis of Hornchurch, Ardleigh Green, Harold Wood and Collier Row tend to have long, narrow gardens. They are ideal for a room at the far end, leaving the lawn and patio closer to the house untouched. Where there is little or no side access, we plan for it at survey.
04
A clear line between work and home
A dedicated garden office means work stays in the garden, not on the sofa.
Connected properly
Hard-wired data points, dedicated circuits for computers and screens, and WiFi that reaches the end of the garden.
Quiet
Full insulation to the walls, floor and roof, with acoustic panelling available where the garden backs onto a road or a school.
Comfortable all year
Insulated as standard, with air conditioning for heating and cooling as an upgrade.
Garden office · Offset roof, cedar cladding, sliding doors
Entertainment room · Bar, media wall and bi-fold doors
05
The core construction never changes. Foundations are suited to the ground, an engineered timber frame carries the roof, and insulation fills the walls, floor and roof. A breather membrane and ventilated cavity protect the structure, anthracite aluminium doors and windows let the light in, and the interior is plastered, painted and floored. Electrics are designed at the drawing stage by our own NAPIT Certified electricians.

Garden offices
With Elizabeth line stations at Romford, Gidea Park and Harold Wood, many residents now split their week between London and home. Garden offices start from £22,500, fully finished, with a built-in desk and storage as required.
Garden gyms
The long gardens of Hornchurch and Harold Wood are ideal for a garden gym, built around your equipment with reinforced floor zones, rubber flooring and air conditioning with ventilation.
Small garden rooms
Not every plot is large. Garden offices typically start from around 3.0m by 3.0m, so even a narrow terrace garden can take a quiet desk space at the far end.
07
Romford falls within the London Borough of Havering. As anywhere, planning depends on the size, position, height and intended use of the building, and on the property. Many garden rooms can be built under permitted development, but the conservation areas in Gidea Park and parts of Emerson Park need a closer look. We identify any planning or Building Regulations requirements during design.
08
We do not expect to be the cheapest. When you compare garden room companies, look at the construction behind the finish, who installs the electrics and the air conditioning, and who is accountable if something needs attention. With us, one team builds the whole room. Our electricians are NAPIT Certified, our air-conditioning engineers are F-Gas registered, and every build comes with a 10-year structural guarantee and £5m public liability insurance.

With the A12 Eastern Avenue and the A127 Southend Arterial Road both running through the area, our team can reach homes across Romford and Havering easily.

A multi-purpose room can work as an office in the week and a guest room at the weekend. Where a room will be used as an annexe, the specification, planning and Building Regulations are handled together.
It depends on size and specification. As a guide, our 5.0m by 3.6m garden office and gym in Billericay took four weeks on site.
Every price is for a fully finished room: insulated, wired and decorated. Your quotation itemises exactly what is included.

To the north, our garden rooms in Epping are designed to sit beside the forest. And out along the A127, we create garden rooms in Basildon for families in Langdon Hills, Laindon and Noak Bridge.
